Northern Colorado FAQ
What services will be offered?
The Center Northern Colorado will offer programming for youth, elders, the transgender community as well as legal resources and referrals. We will also produce PrideFest Ft. Collins in September. Additionally, in early 2012, the Center will conduct a community survey in Northern Colorado that will allow people to express their needs/desires for future programming. The information drawn from the survey will help in expanding services and making them uniquely relevant to the community.
Additionally, the creation of a Northern Colorado community advisory Committee will be established comprised from individuals on Northern Colorado. The Committee will help inform The Center on community changes, trends and needs so that programming stays relevant with the community. Lastly, the Center will have board representation from Northern Colorado which will be essential when setting policy and strategy.
Will this affect current Center programming in Denver?
No - The Center will maintain all of our programming in Denver; Legal and Advocacy, Rainbow Alley, SAGE of the Rockies, Denver PrideFest and other programming at our home on Colfax. New staff and expanded funding streams will support northern Colorado operations. Administrative systems will be combined for greater efficiencies in day-to-day business operations but programming will be reflective of each community's needs.
What happened to Lambda Community Center? Why did they close?
The ongoing economic recession has hit many non-profits hard, particularly those in non-metro areas. While the Lambda Center continued to offer valuable services to the community, fundraising capacity was unable to keep up with the financial demands of the organization.
Why did The Center decide to initiate programming in Northern Colorado?
The Lambda Community Center contacted The Center and wanted to explore ways in which we could work together to maintain and expand the current level of services in Northern Colorado. It was through Lambda’s outreach to the Center that the process of expansion began.
Will there be a Pride in the Park?
Yes, though it will now become PrideFest Ft. Collins. It will be moved to early September allowing for expanded community participation, particularly students from CSU. In 2012 PrideFest Ft. Collins will be held on September 8.
Where will The Center Northern Colorado be located?
We will temporarily keep the same location as Lambda, but will seek a new space that is larger and more widely accessible.

You can volunteer, donate or become involved in leadership opportunities.
Volunteering: Contact The Center’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Juli German, jgerman@glbtcolorado.org, 303-951-5209 and attend a volunteer orientation. During the orientation you’ll learn about various opportunities you can engage in.
Donate: Your support for carrying out relevant programming is appreciated. You can donate on-line or mail your check to The Center, 1301 E. Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80218 and indicated No Colorado.
Leadership Opportunities: You can join the Northern Colorado Community Advisory Committee, or The Center’s Board of Directors. Applications are accepted annually and more information can be found at www.glbtcolorado.org
