About the Transgender Program

The Center's Transgender Program is a welcoming, affirming program for transgender and gender diverse individuals. We offer weekly and monthly social and support groups, events, and opportunities to connect with our community.

We also offer engaging classes, such as yoga or art workshops, host community discussions, and provide fingerprinting services on-site.

Thank you for attending our Transgender Day of Remembrance observance.

On November 20, 2023, more than 100 community members were in attendance to honor the transgender & gender diverse people we have lost to anti-trans violence this year. Moments of both collective grief and hope were shared throughout the event. It was beautiful and empowering to see and feel the strength of our community. Perhaps the most powerful moment of the event occurred during the reading of names ceremony - after the name of each person who had passed was read, attendees went back around the room and shared affirmations of hope and strength, solidifying that we will not forget those we have lost.

We are immensely grateful to all of the musicians, speakers, poets, volunteers, and attendees for making this event possible - we could not have done this without you.

Thank you for attending the 5th Annual Queer Author Expo!

Over 100 people came out to support local queer authors, illustrators, and creatives on a beautiful Saturday at the end of September. The three Q&A panels provoked thoughtful and engaging discussion between the panelists and event attendees on topics such as publishing, writing queer characters, and processing queer experiences through writing.

Through the whole day, there was lots of engagement and support shown between community members and the local creatives who came out to showcase their work. Thank you so much to everyone who supported this event!

Thank you for attending our Pride Month screening of When Men Were Men!

Saga and the Transgender Program collaborated to host special Pride Month film screening of When Men Were Men at The Sie FilmCenter. The special screening of the film was followed by a Q&A panel discussion. Panelists included Izzi Rojas, co-director, writer and actor of the film; Annie, an attorney for the ACLU; Sable Schultz, Manager of Transgender Services at The Center on Colfax; and two Saga program participants, Theo and Frank. The panel was moderated by Viet Nguyen, The Center's Young Adult Manager.

The post-film panel resulted in a meaningful and engaging conversation about the film, transgender and nonbinary representation in media, the current legal battles for LGBTQ+ rights across the United States, and hope for the future.

We are so grateful to everyone who made this event possible – the production team of When Men Were Men, Denver Film and The Sie FilmCenter, all our panelists, and to everyone who attended this special event!
